Co-Worker Rant

I'm sorry, I know this is two rants in a row, but I'm on a roll tonight.

First some background... I always go into work on Sundays. Not to work, but to check the classifieds and the TV guide thing that comes in the paper. While I was there we got a phone call from tonight's audio op. Apparently the cops were at his house and about to take him to jail! He got a fine for something a while ago, never paid it, and eventually a warrant was issued. So, I end up staying at work to cover his butt (second time in a week if anyone's counting).

After dealing with the cops he did manage to show up at work 45 minutes late which meant I could go home. But the Oscars were almost done and I wanted to see the last couple categories.

First off, I can't believe Eminem won. I can't stand him. And there were so many good SONGS up and his piece of drivel won? What is happening to the world? Whenever I've complained about him this particular audio op comes back with all these defenses of "but his work is amazing and look at what he's been through and..." ad nauseum. I'll admit that I don't like that style of music to begin with so I can't really tell if his stuff is good or not BUT...

No matter what he's "been through" there is no excuse for the way he treats women, minorities, homosexuals, etc. To me that right there negates any talent he may have.

Now we get to best director and Roman Polansky, who seems to like raping 13 year old girls, wins. Immediately I complain about that and this idiot* audio op gives his same "but look at his work!" excuse. The man should BE IN JAIL! He shouldn't be getting awards. And why are all the other celebs giving him a standing ovation? I just don't get it.

I think that's the end of my ranting for tonight. But you never know when I'll be back. I seem to be in a ranting mood today!

*The reason I call him an idiot has nothing to do with his opinion on these two issues. It has to do with his continuing stupidity at work. One of the jobs we have can be done by just about anyone with minimal training (we're talking 10 minutes tops) and he can't seem to even handle that. Then there's the reason I had to cover his butt last Sunday... but that's a story for another time. Those are the reasons I call him an idiot. Not because he disagrees with me.
