Well, I just checked with Goatee'd TD on the mystery instrument. It isn't an oboe or an english horn. So we're back to square one.
What he describes sounds like an oboe, but he keeps saying that's not it.
So no idea!

I have no idea what it could be. If its not an oboe or english horn then Im stumped.

I know! He keeps describing this thing that doesn't sound like any instrument I've ever heard of! The top sounds like an oboe, the middle is a clarinet (but fatter!) and it's shorter than either one.
So strange!
