After much fighting with aol I've finally got my AIM/Yahoo/ICQ/Trillian combo installed on my desktop. The laptop is still something of a mystery, but at least I can do my normal chatting in the living room.

what fighting did you have to do with AOL? I have just AIM, and can't get the thing to work right for me...
