Ring Ring

It's always so much fun to get a paniced call from your boss right after ya wake up! I'm at work getting ready to TD the noon. Such fun.

Ha!

I've finally done the "rename your comment cgi script" thing. Did it 5 or 6 hours ago.

Not one single spam comment.

I have no doubt that they'll find a way around this at some point, but it seems to be working at the moment and that makes me a very happy camper! Now I think I'll go do the same thing to the trackback script!

Guess What?

Quick Blogging 101 lesson...

If you're caught hot-linking an image on someone else's server without permission, expect to have it replaced with something you probably won't like very much.

It's Going To Be an Interesting Week

Middle of the A-block... "S***, Reinquist died!"

I think we'll be adding some breaking news to the show then. It's sure going to be interesting to see how this all plays out.

The Kids of Katrina

KatrinaKids.jpg

Michele has organized an incredibly school supply drive to help out the kids that have been displaced by Hurricane Katrina. If you want to help out, click on the image above and donate money (every cent of which will go to help the kids) or send stuff through Amazon or even post a link.

Pink vs. Grey

Go read this.

It's long, it's pretty dense, but it's worth it.

Lost and Found

A friend at work pointed me to a website and I just had to share.

It's called Found Magazine and it's absolutely fascinating.

It's scanned images of notes, lists, doodles, pictures, homework... that have been found and submitted. It's horribly addictive browsing!

Manners People!

I just found a couple more of my images that were being hotlinked by people on a couple sites. Most notable are a couple myspace users, and a nexopia user.

Ya know, I get some kind of perverse little charge out of changing the image and then looking at their messed up sites.

There should be some kind of "net-iquette" test before people are allowed to have websites.

If someone wants to use one of my images ASK!

What the... ?!?!?

A very good friend from back home IM'ed me just before I had to leave for work.

She'd been fired!

I do not understand this! She's one of, if not the, best reporter the place has ever had. Everyone in the community knows who she is. What is the logic behind this? It makes no sense!

I just wish I could do something for her. I'm too far away to do anything other than talk. I'd like to be able to run over to her place and give her a great big hug.

Ack!

Leaving Town

It looks like Lair and Co. will be leaving Houston later today.

Here's hoping they'll be able to come back to something!

Stay safe down there everyone.

Draging

No particular reason either. Just feeling very worn out today. Last couple days really.

I haven't been sleeping very well, and I know that's part of it. But I just can't seem to get to sleep lately. I'll go to bed around 1 or 2 (normal to early for me) and not be able to actually sleep until 5 or 6. And then I have my alarm set for 10 so I can actually get something done before I have to go to work.

So, not a lot of sleep, not a lot of energy, very worn out regardless of actual energy expended.

And yes, I know there's lots of people dealing with a lot more than I am. That are busier, or have frelling hurricanes to avoid.

But I'm worn out, and it's my blog, so I'm complaining about it.

In Which Suni Joins the DVR Loving Population

I finally broke down and went to the cable company and signed up for their DVR service. And after having it for only one day... I am in love! This thing rocks!

It has less memory than a TiVo (holds 40 hours) but I can't afford 300 bucks for a TiVo so I'm ok with that! It'll record two channels at once which is incredibly nice. And Cox's interactive guide thing actually (ding!) works pretty well. It doesn't have as many bells and whistles as a TiVo either but, again, I'm ok with that.

I'm going to have to play with it more to figure out everything it can do, but just the basics so far have me quite excited!

And as an added bonus getting the DVR means I get the digital tier of channels which includes GSN and previous seasons of TAR! Yay! I can finally watch the seasons from before I realized how much that show completely rocks.

However, now the tangle of insanity behind the television is even worse than it was before. I think I'll have to pull it all apart and put it back together sometime soon.

Congratulations

Just wanted to express my very heartfelt support for the Take Back the Memorial folks. As of yesterday Gov. Pataki has decided to remove the IFC from the memorial site.

Very comforting to know that the WTC site will remain sacred ground and a place for remembering.
