New Years...

I think the funniest thing about New Years is the annual drunk dial I get around 1:00 am...

It just wouldn't be New Years without it!

Dear Neighbors:

It is 2 o'clock in the frelling morning. Either turn the music down or shut your windows! If it's loud enough that you all have to shout over each other to hear each other talking? Then it needs to be turned down!

She Needs a Lozenge!

I was just watching Conan and they cut in with a news alert thing about the WV miners. And while that subject is very sad and horrible, that's not what this post is about!

How on earth did this Rita Cosby woman get on national television? She sounds horrible! I couldn't listen more than a couple minutes even though I was actually interested in the breaking news thing. I honestly don't understand how she got her first job and then how did she move to a bigger market? It just doesn't make sense!

The Return of Music

A wonderful package arrived for me yesterday containing the replacement for my broken mp3 player. I ended up spending waaaay too much time transfering files, but they're all moved now so I have my music back! Yay!

I got to listen to what I wanted on the way to work today, instead of the annoying radio that fuzzes in and out and plays stuff I sort of like sometimes. I do have to remake my playlists, but mostly I'm just really happy to have it back.

I'm all curious as to what the kid was doing that someone felt the need to yell at them!

Voodoo doll, tempers stun residents at council meeting

Yes, you read that headline correctly. A voodoo doll! And it isn't even a big scary one, I can't find a picture of the actual doll anywhere on-line (maybe later tonight if it makes it to work's website) but it's this tiny little thing. Kinda like this one. It's absurd!

Apparently it was on this guy's desk in his office and the town clerk lady found it (snooping much?) and brought it to the council meeting.

Cat Blogging

At some point tonight I'm going to become a cat blogger... well, temporarily at least.

There's a co-worker who's having all kinds of roommate/apartment drama (it involves restraining orders and all kinds of fun) and needs someone to take care of his two kitties for a little bit until he finds a new apartment. There aren't any emergency housing places for people in the state, let alone fur babies! So I volunteered to take them until he finds a place.

The birdies have been moved to the bedroom with the door shut, and Mr. Benjamin will have to stay in his house and not be a free-range bunny for a little while. But it's the right thing to do and I like cats so it'll be fun to have a couple around for a bit.

Stay tuned!

I am now a Catblogger!

There's pictures up in the photoblog and there are frequently kitties on the Zoo Cams!

I'm having fun with them. Kinda makes me wish I could have one (or two) of my own. But the whole birdies thing, plus the mother being highly allergic... makes it infeasable. Oh well, I'll enjoy them while I have them.

Cleo is such a cool laid back old lady, she's 13 and seems to pick a spot and then curl up and snooze. With occasional breaks to come ask for skritches of course! She let me pick her up and then stayed in my lap for quite a while, so that was good.

May is a skittish little thing, she's 2 or 3 (I don't remember what their daddy said) and is slowly warming up to me. New people seem to make her nervous, but seeing as the last new person she met was mean and nasty I don't blame her! She's getting there though, I think she just needs to figure out that I'm nice and then she'll be ok. She's loving sitting on my big windowsill and watching everything out it. She and Benjamin have sniffed noses through his house, that was adorable. I didn't get my camera quickly enough though and missed it.

I'm having fun!

Feline Acceptance

As of last night the kitties seem to have accepted me as a good person that they like. There were a couple scuffles over my lap, sleeping on my tummy, kisses, and hair washing.

When I got up today I let them in my bedroom for a couple minutes to see how they'd react to the fids. Cleo sniffed at Rin and then decided that my bed (and then the windowsill) was more interesting. May stared at Rin, Rin stared at May, May wandered off to stare at Mione when she started dancing. There wasn't any attempt to jump up on cages or get at the fids, just a lot of staring by everyone!

So I'm thinking that when I get home tonight I'm going to try moving the fids back out into the zoo room and seeing how the kitties behave. If that works they can have access to my bedroom and maybe I'll get to snuggle with some kitties when I go to bed!

And yes mother, now I want a cat.

Moving In

We were watching TV at work this afternoon (as we tend to do on weekends) and there was a show on the History channel about conatiners. One of the segments was about shipping containers that have been turned into housing and work space.

A little googling later and we have The Quik House! It's a 2,000 square foot house made of five shipping containers. Completely installed it costs between $150,000 and $175,000.

And then there's the LOT/EK folks. Their 2 or 4 or 6 container house is incredibly cool. Their website, however, is confusing and kind of difficult to figure out. Click on the "buildings" header and then "CHK Container Home Kit" and then a bunch of pictures and floor plans, even a movie will show up. I couldn't find a price thing, but from the looks of it I'm guessing it's more than the Quik House, but less than a "normal" house.

I'm fascinated!

Lap Full

I have a lap full of cats right now! Just saying.

Wooooooossshhhh!!!!

It is insanely windy outside at the moment. Very loud, trees bending in half... it's kinda fun! It'd be better if it were a snow storm or something of course, but it's still cool.

Would ya Look at That!

Richard Hatch Guilty!

OK, this post isn't really about Hatch. I think he's an idiot for thinking he could get away with this nonsense.

The point of the post is the reporter in the background of the AP photo in that article. That's Jarrod! I work with him! I know, not a huge deal, just kinda cool and mildly interesting.

Any Ideas?

I have no idea why, but I've been thinking about a couple TV shows from when I was in middle school & high school. There's one that I remember, but can't come up with the name or anything specific enough about it for google to help me. So here's hoping someone stumbles across this post and knows what I'm talking about!

I'm remembering a short-lived sci-fi series from the early 90's. It would have been on one of the "Big 3" networks and didn't make it a full season as far as I remember. It involved people fighting some sort of bug alien things (no, not Space: Above & Beyond) The pilot layed down on her tummy to fly the ship, one of the characters had all kinds of fake body parts. I remember a scene of his heart sliding out of his chest in this weird little boxish contraption.

Those are the two most specific bits I can remember. Anyone have any ideas? Or know a good place to look for the answer?

Ha!

I saw this quiz while surfing around from the Friday Ark and just had to take it. I'm not sure how I feel about the results. Although, considering some of the alternatives... I guess Locke is ok.

You scored as Locke. You're Locke! People underestimate you, but you know you can do anything you want to. You hate limits being put on your life - you don't like it when people don't believe in you.

The interface is a little bit clunky, but there's lots of options and it's fun to play around with it!

Hoppy Hoppy Day!

I just got off the phone with the Sweet Binks lady. Benjamin and I have an appointment for one o'clock Thursday to pick a new friend for him! Yay! Woot! Yippee!

She said that 75% of their adoptions are bondings so they have a lot of experience with that. She said to bring Benjamin and then he gets to choose! How cool is that?!? I'm just all happy that my bunny boy is going to have a friend again.
