We were watching TV at work this afternoon (as we tend to do on weekends) and there was a show on the History channel about conatiners. One of the segments was about shipping containers that have been turned into housing and work space.
A little googling later and we have The Quik House! It's a 2,000 square foot house made of five shipping containers. Completely installed it costs between $150,000 and $175,000.
And then there's the LOT/EK folks. Their 2 or 4 or 6 container house is incredibly cool. Their website, however, is confusing and kind of difficult to figure out. Click on the "buildings" header and then "CHK Container Home Kit" and then a bunch of pictures and floor plans, even a movie will show up. I couldn't find a price thing, but from the looks of it I'm guessing it's more than the Quik House, but less than a "normal" house.
I'm fascinated!
